Tang has been open for just over two years, located on South Belfast’s busy Lisburn Road.

Winning the Sandwich Bar of the Year in the 2003 Neighbourhood Retailing Awards, acknowledged the originality and high quality which Tang has brought to the sandwich industry.

Owned by trained chef Stephen Friel, and run with wife Jackie and friend Libby McCartney, this team has adopted a unique approach to the sandwich trade. Retaining total control over the ingredients for the sandwiches, Tang’s three chefs cook all the ingredients and sauces rather than buying anything in. 

As a result Tang treat their menu as more of a restaurant menu than that of a sandwich bar. Tang’s chefs marinate all the chicken, cook all the salmon, duck and beef and make all their own dressings and sauces, such as salsa Verde, spicy peanut sauce and pesto.

An important element of Tang’s culture is innovation. We regularly change the menu, retaining popular dishes but changing some of the meats and sauces. The daily soup is even a regular surprise for the customers, as the three chefs battle it out to produce new and exciting varieties.

Tang is open from 8am during the week and serves coffee and pastries before lunch.  The lunch menu is made up of sandwiches, salads and soup. A sample menu can be selected from the page listing on the left.
