Welcome

The name Clements originated from the eccentric Pope Clement VIII, 1592-1608.  It was during his reign that several coffee emporiums opened throughout Rome.  As these establishments tended to be slightly seedy and filled with after dark devilment, the Bishops approached Clement asking him to excommunicate coffee immediately!  On hearing this request Clement decided to investigate these seemingly sordid and unholy establishments.  Upon arrival, Pope Clement was completely entranced by the rich, heavenly intoxicating aroma and the breathtakingly divine taste of the coffee.  Deeming this black liquid nectar from the Gods and not a tool from Satan, Pope Clement decided to baptise coffee!

So here we are, some 400 years on, still enjoying that same heavenly coffee once made famous by Pope Clement.  We hope you will agree we truly are religious about coffee.

Our unique tasting coffee comes from a secret roast of 4 of the finest arabica beans. You won’t get the Clements taste anywhere else!

Established in 1999, Clements is now 5 years old and unlike many of today’s coffee shops, Clements is totally locally owned and managed.  We are not a franchised operation being dictated to from some far-off land.  We are committed to helping the plight of the coffee farmers - all of our coffee is sourced through FairTrade practices which means that as you enjoy a Clements Coffee you know that you are making a difference in the lives of coffee farmers and their familes. If only the multinationals would pay the same respect, the world would be a better place.
