Welcome
Cargoes Café /Deli was set up by Mary Maw and Radha Patterson in 1993. Situated on the Lisburn Road on the south side of the city, Cargoes was one of the first cafes in Belfast to serve cappuccinos and espressos and offer a less conservative choice of food.
Eleven and a half years later we are more than ever determined to give our customers varied and interesting food both in the café and delicatessen. On our shelves you will find a wide selection of Italian, French, Spanish and Greek olive oils, lots of pasta, good quality jams and preserves and other tantalising comestibles. We stock a finely chosen range of French, Irish and Italian cheeses and a selection of hams and salamis. In the kitchen we prepare daily soup, salads, hot dishes, savoury tarts and desserts. Food can be ordered for buffets, parties and we also specialise in canapés.
Our cooking has many influences but we are above all concerned with taste, flavour and the use of good ingredients. Our Cookery Workshops have given us an opportunity to share our style of cooking with a wide audience.
We are constantly up-dating our repertoire and researching new ideas as well as conserving old favourites. Food is subject to fashion but we also believe that we should safeguard our culinary heritage. We believe that food is one of life's greatest pleasures and our aim at Cargoes is to share our enjoyment of food and cooking with our customers and encourage them to try the wonderful selection of ingredients and foodstuffs now available.
