Welcome
South Belfast is probably the most diverse area in Northern Ireland and is home to many cultures and ethnic groups.
An Droichead is an organisation which celebrates the high levels of diversity in the area and is a hidden gem in the south of the city. An Droichead is home to south Belfast's only Irish medium bunscoil.
Scoil An Droichid
Situated in Cooke Street in the heart of the Lower Ormeau Road, Scoil An Drochid currently provides Irish medium 'bunscoil' in South Belfast and serves children form all over the area. The school is multi-denominational and implements pro-active policies regarding the appreciation of diversity in our city. It continues to grow in numbers and reputation.
Larionad An Droichid
An Droichead's cultural centre is situated behind Scoil An Drochid and is visible form the main Ormeau Road. The £400,000 award-winning building houses a crèche, nursery, pre-school group and afterschool club. As well as this, the Larionad has class rooms and a main performing area (complete with lighting and sound systems) which can accommodate plays, ceilis, dinners etc. We are currently working on a stragey to maximise the use of the state of the art facility which is a beacon of cultural prosperity on the Ormaeu Road.
